Justin Dutraive's Fleurie La Madone comes from vines owned by his mother on the hill of Fleurie near the small chapel at the top. Vinification is Cold carbonic maceration for 12 hours in a cold cellar after harvests, cold vatting, 21 days fermentation without pump overs, before aging for 6 to 7 months in stainless steel tanks. This is serious Fleurie that offers incredible depth and complexity.
Justin Dutraive learned his trade working alongside his father, the legendary Jean-Louis Dutraive (Domaine de la Grand’Cour) – an icon winemaker in Fleurie and Beaujolais more generally. The wines he produces under his own name share some of the same DNA as the Dutraive family wines (organic farming, natural winemaking, and high-quality Gamay) but also have very much their own distinct style. He making only tiny quantites of each wine – if you love bright, elegant and high toned wines don’t let Justin's releases pass you by.
