Les Fontanilles is produced from four varietals: Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault. The vinification is typically Burgundian which gives a less heavy and more elegant wine. The vines are between 22 and 50 years old and grow in sandstone and flint soil at 220 meters altitude, which is similar to the conditions of Anne’s homevillage Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy. The finished wine has been aged 50% in oak barrels and 50% in steel tanks.
On the nose aromas of rosemary, marjoram, light tobacco, and spicy black berries dominate. The palate is fresh but expect richness and some savoury characteristics too. An ideal wine for grilled meat or for the barbecue!
