A delicious Merlot from Gascony in France.
Southwest France is home to some of the best value wines in the country and this soft, organic red blend from Domaine Seailles hits the spot quite nicely. The surrounding vineyards typically grow white grapes meant to Armagnac, the local speciality, and maybe this red takes a page out of their book — dark-fruited with a surprising aromatic lift and an alluring, savoury depth. Spontaneously fermented and aged in concrete tank for 6-8 months, expect notes of blackberry compote, triple-berry pie, white pepper, a touch of jerky and a stemmy, supple tannins. Pair with mushroom bourguignon and chicken liver mousse.
