As he himself proclaims, "A viticultor should craft wines within their native region. That is where they can most intimately understand the terroir..."; hence, after several years of honing his craft in El Priorat, Eben Sadie returned to Swartland in South Africa, the land of his birth, where he has an exhaustive knowledge of every soil type and plot across his 24 hectares. Here, perched at a certain elevation (bathed in light and cooled by the breeze), he discovered the quintessential spot for cultivating Grenache, a varietal he became acquainted with during his tenure in the El Priorat region of Catalonia (northwest Spain). Since then, joy and success have reigned in his winery with creations like Sadie Family Soldaat.
