Domaine des Hospices de Beaune is a 60-hectare organic winegrowing estate in Burgundy with an annual charity auction that's renowned the world over. As a sign of the quality of its terroirs, 85% of the estate's vineyards are classified as Premier or Grand Cru.
The wine is made in the vat room of the Hospices de Beaune, at the foot of the Beaune vineyard. There is an intense nose of red fruits, berries, cocoa and violet. The palate follows on with additional blackberries and black cherry, forest floor, and some light gaminess. It's a muscular wine with plenty of depth and complexity in the long finish.
