La Prunera, meaning 'The Plum Tree', is a blend of Grenache and Carignan with brooding aromas of dark fruit with higher-toned notes of pot-pourri and spice, leading to a plummy palate of juicy prune and plum, all balanced by a good lick of acidity.
The Celler Cal Besso estate comprises two vineyards, Les Rotes and La Presa, both situated in Montsant DO in the eastern part of Spain. They are planted with young vines, 15 to 25 years of age, and with 60 to 70-year-old vines. La Prunera is fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels.
